Kevan Hoertdoerfer Architects was founded in 1998 and is based in Charleston, South Carolina, USA. The practice currently has 4 employees with a wide range of architectural backgrounds.
The work in the office has expanded rapidly since the beginning to include a wide variety of
building types. Projects vary in scale from gallery installations to urban planning, from houses to urban competitions, from glassware and furniture design to research into sustainable practice and the future of educational technologies.
Kevan, has over ten years of architecture
experience in the highest quality of residential, commercial,
institutional design and construction. Kevan’s projects
have been constructed throughout the United States, with the
majority being in South Carolina. Previously the founding principal
of a design / build firm, and an assistant professor at Yestermorrow
Design / Build School in Vermont, he is currently co-director
of publiccity and also remains a licensed homebuilder and an
accomplished craftsman. Kevan’s residential projects
have ranged from modest affordable housing units to large custom
homes as well as actively participated in the planning of several
new communities and recreational facilities. Since his move
to Charleston eight years ago, Kevan has been a guest professor
at both the Clemson Architecture Center located in Charleston,
the College of Charleston’s Planning and Preservation
department and received an invitation to participate as an
installation artist for several art exhibitions in the area.
